I see Hipters!

After some time of looking at images of "Unhappy Hipsters" online, I had gotten into a bad habit of silently giggling to myself at the sight of one.

On one of my usual grocery shopping walks through the market. I was shocked to see a lineup at one of the shoppes I was so use to overlooking. There was some new signage dressed in with the old facade and a couple young hipsters serving what looked to
be some great cuts of meat.

I ventured inside and was greeted pleasantly by the staff! Ya, I know?? I'm use to being barked at by the butchers at other fine dead animal serving establishments! The helpful staff at the meat locker were amazing. They helped to customize my order and get me on my way as soon as possible.

I suggest everyone gives it a try. You'll find unusual cuts of meat, poultry and game. Finally! Prepare some of those risky dishes that you once had on your bike ride through Europe. I'm going to start with the duck. Too bad, I won't giggle anymore!

Yilkes run!

This run is a very tough run for me. I get the up hill climb done early. So then, when I'm all pooped, I can roll down the hill. On this run I will take some cab fare... just in case! I don't usually take water cause I don't think you really need it! I could be wrong. Well, I'll give it a try. See you next spring!

I should do a little stretching prior to this one!

Jaime Oliver - Food

In this world the are the people who consider food to be a fuel for sustaining your body alive and there are the people that love food. Me, for instance!

Some times those people understand food and acknowledge that delicious yummy food can be and in fact is healthy and cheap!

This week Jaime Oliver was given the TED Award.

Here is what he had to say.

What Jaime Oliver is saying is true here in Canada too. Maybe not here in the GTA, just take a drive to Northern Ontario communities.

To coincide with that momentous event, I was treated to an awesome dinner.

I made a delicious Quinoa, sweet potato mash, lentil, avocado and fresh veggies melange. The Tahini dressing that she also made was very refreshing too.

Running route 10k plus

Today started out a little sluggish. I have been trying to shake this crazy... "My legs feel like 100lb tree trunks" feel for the last couple of days. I felt a little better. Not great just yet but a lot better. I decided to give a new route a try.

It's days like today I wish I had and iPad.

Home Brew

This morning I thought I would do this. I'm still in my sleeping attire, sleep still in my eyes.. Oh well! I am about to enjoy a quad skim milk latte.

I usually buy my espresso from iDeal in the market.

It's a good spot to hang up a photo in. The new manager is awesome. Not only is the espresso good, he has a great connection with his community and in return, he has return clients.

I'm at home just getting ready for poached eggs and toast before getting on the subway for work. I'm just testing this iPhone app. Really.

... and dudes that well...

...are Douches!

New Coffee place.... I'm waiting for wine time.

Well, another day another coffee bar.

As some of you can tell, I drink a lot of coffee/lattes. So I was invited or persuaded to go try a new coffee place that I didn't mention on my blog."The Bean" on College street.

Now, I love a mid-day latte, specially after wolfing down a Big Fat Burrito! Today was no exception. I was on my way back to my perch when I decided to drop in on "The Bean".

At first, I was a little hesitant. I noticed they didn't have any chairs outside for the smoking coffee drinkers, not that I'm one. I decided to give it a try anyway. I was met by a very pleasant person. This already eased my hesitation.

Then a smile came to my face when I discovered that "The Bean" had a liquor license! Image that! A place that was homey, relaxed and on College. Plenty of visual stimuli and it has booze! Now, I didn't see any Single Malts, nor any blends.... Oh well, at least there was "Stoli", I mean it is a coffee bar!

Which brings me back to the latte. I didn't really get a chance to look at the crema that came with the espresso (I was looking at the wine list...meh! But $5.00 for the house... meh). The latte itself, well I've had better. Sorry! It had that taste of lattes from places that you go to with your mom... on a Sunday brunch in the 905. Kinda weak or watered down, even though I had the double. I still have that homo milk film residue on my tongue. The temperature for the drink was kinda medium, so I liked that, it's not something that my leather tongued friends would enjoy.

Having said that, I will go back, if they'll have me. I'll bring friends. For the cheap wine and there is plenty of seating room, snack like food(I didn't look at the entire menu), and free wi-fi!

All places should have free wi-fi! I hope I didn't offend, I just like my lattes strong.
